Rev. John Ehrich, STL, was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Phoenix in 2000. He earned his B.A. in Philosophy from St. Meinrad College and, subsequently, his M.A. in Theology in 1998 and his Master of Divinity in 2000, both from St. Meinrad Seminary.
He earned his Licentiate in Sacred Theology (Moral Theology) in 2007 from the Accademia Alfonsiana in Rome. Upon his return he served as pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Phoenix, AZ until 2014.
Fr. Ehrich also served as the chaplain of the Catholic Medical Association from 2009 – 2011 and of the Catholic Physician's Guild of Phoenix from 2005-2013. In 2009 he founded the Institute of Catholic Theology (ictphx.org). From 2009 until 2014 he served as the Medical Ethics Director for the Diocese of Phoenix and Chair of the Diocesan Medical Ethics Board.
From 2015 to 2017 he was parochial vicar of St. Joan of Arc Parish in Phoenix. From 2017 to 2019 he was the Parochial Administrator of St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Williams, AZ, St. Anne Parish in Ash Fork, AZ and St. Francis Parish in Seligman, AZ. Since 2019 Fr. John has been assigned to St. Thomas More.
Fr. Ehrich has taught on many subjects throughout his career including Bioethics, Fundamental Moral Theology, Postmodernism, and C.S. Lewis.
He is a native of Wisconsin, having moved with his family to Arizona when he was 13 and is, understandably, a diehard Cheesehead. Prior to entering the seminary, Fr. Ehrich studied Music Theory and Composition and was a liturgical musician in the Diocese of Phoenix.
