Thank You!

Dear Parishioners,

It's now been about four months since I arrived at St. Thomas More. I began about the second week of June and, officially, the first of July.

From my perspective things seem to be going very well. I am grateful for your hospitality and for accepting me as your new priest. As we know, any time there is a change in leadership there is going to be growing pains. People have to get used to me and I have to get used to all of you. The best way to do this, it seems to me, is to honor each other and try to presume the good in all that we do.

So many of you have told me that what you value the most is the community spirit and "togetherness" that we share whenever we gather. I would agree that this is a particular strength of our parish. It's really a wonderful thing to see people who are cheerful and truly desire to be present at Sunday Mass or other gatherings. We are all stronger when we are together and unified.

As the weeks and months progress there will likely continue to be adjustments. But, really, there always are in a parish because it is a sort of living organism. Life is rarely static and neither is a parish. I think it is good for us to continue to think, dream and share ideas about how we can move forward as a parish. It's very valuable to me to hear your thoughts and hopes. From your perspective there may be only you and a few people who share some common ideas, but from my perspective I can gather all of that information together to help to make good decisions for the entire parish.

Thank you again for being you. Each of you are valuable and loved and I am honored to be here at this time with you.

God's blessings,
Fr. John
