Welcome Fr. John Ehrich
We are looking forward to when we will officially welcome him to his new parish family.
Dear St. Thomas Parishioners,
By way of introduction, my name is Fr. John Ehrich and, as you know by now, I will be coming to St. Thomas in just a few months as your new priest. I am very excited about this opportunity and
getting to know all of you. St. Thomas is a very active and engaged parish, which is really a wonderful thing, and I cannot wait to see you all in person. It is obvious to me that Fr. Jim has done a fantastic job working with all of you to create a vibrant community of faith.
I have been a priest for the Diocese of Phoenix for about 18 years. My family is originally from Wisconsin and we moved to Arizona when I was finishing grade school in 1984. (Yes, I am a proud
Cheesehead!) I attended Seton Catholic High School and studied Music at Mesa Community College for two years while beginning a career in Church music, mostly in the East Valley. God ended up having other plans and I entered the seminary when I was 22. I finished college seminary with a degree in Philosophy and then earned an M.A. and an M.Div. prior to being ordained in 2000. After five years as the parochial vicar at St. Thomas the Apostle, I was sent to Rome for an advanced degree in Sacred Theology in 2005 and graduated in 2007. My degree is in Moral Theology. When I came back to the diocese, the Bishop installed me as pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle and I also began work for him in Medical Ethics. In 2014, I left St. Thomas and worked as a vicar at St. Anne, St. Clement of Rome and St. Joan of Arc. Currently I am finishing two years as Parochial Administrator serving the people of Williams, Ash Fork and Seligman. I am pleased to be coming back to the Valley to be near my mother and my sister’s family who live in Goodyear.
Please know of my prayers for all of you.
