Education is one of the greatest privileges to have available, especially when it comes to the topic of faith. Having a safe space to educate the minds of both the youth and adults of the parish is just one of the many luxuries of the parish of St. Thomas More. The discussions that have been had and the ones that are yet to come are pivotal to keeping our faith strong and we are lucky enough to be part of a parish that accepts all those who walk through the doors.
St. Thomas More has religious education opportunities for all ages. For the parish youth, grades K-5 can participate in the R.E programs on either Monday or Tuesday in the late afternoon in the parish hall, junior high, grades 6-8 can participate in a group called FIRE either on Wednesday night or Sunday afternoon in the parish hall, and finally, high school, grades 9-12 can participate in a group called TUF which meets on Sunday afternoon. Each one of these programs inspires the youth to not only deepen their faith, but also to live their faith just as Jesus intended. Time and time again, Ann, Maria, KariBeth, Father Jim, and the volunteers go above and beyond to make these programs the best they can be through the devotion of their time and hard work.
St. Thomas More also offers religious education opportunities for the young adults and adults of the parish. The young adult group which meets sporadically throughout the month, the adult bible study, and the RCIA program for unbaptized adults, as well as the adult confirmation group. Adults are also strongly encouraged to take action in the parish as catechists for the religious programs available at the parish.
We are all called to live as disciples of Christ, living out every day to the best of our abilities and the religious education programs offered here at St. Thomas More can help us accomplish that. Whether acting as a participant or a leader, we all share the common goal of doing God’s work and as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the parish we should be joyful over all of the wonderful things that have sprouted as a result of these ministries.September 21, 2017
