A New Groundbreaking at St. Thomas More
By Leo Wozniak
On the morning of January 7, with just a simple shovel full of dirt outside our parish offices, Fr. Jim will signal the start of another major building project. It means another important expansion of facilities which will be available to our parishioners
The future new building, which was first introduced back in May, will be located adjacent to the current office building. According to the design, the two-story building will provide large meeting rooms on the second floor and several offices and some smaller meeting rooms on the first floor. An elevator is part of the design.
Steve Brown, parish manager, says that one difference from when the project was first introduced earlier this year, is a different contractor. The work will be performed by Forefront Development LLC of Mesa.
Everything else in the design remains pretty much as before, Steve explains, with completion time still expected in the Fall of 2018.
“We hope to have the building ready in time for the end of the year, traditionally a busy time in our parish,” he says.
Recognizing that any building project means some sort of inconvenience, Steve asks that parishioners make necessary adjustments.
He says, “We expect to temporarily lose some parking spots, and some walking areas will be impacted because of fencing and construction equipment.”December 31, 2017
