Happy New Year! In keeping with tradition, most of us set goals or make resolutions in an attempt to improve our lives or relationships in the New Year. Well there is something new and exciting happening in January at St Thomas More! Shelly McBride, with her passion for building community among our parishioners, her abundance of faith and her desire to serve, has a new program waiting for all of us.
Longing for the Holy is for those who want to enrich their sense of the presence of God. Based on gentle spiritual guidance and practical wisdom of father Ronald Rolheiser, 0MI, it concerns the way we channel the deep longing at the core of our beings.
Designed for either a small group of faith-sharing experience, or personal reflection, participants explore the implications of the central mysteries of faith – the incarnation, the Eucharist, and the Paschal Mystery – for spirituality. Attending to the cultural changes that keep us from realizing our true desire, it considers the important themes of church community, justice, sexuality, the practices of the spiritual life, and being a mystic of the every day.
- Consider how to actively, unknowingly live in the presence of God and respond to the needs of God’s people.
- Explore different dimensions of contemporary spiritual life brought to life through the lives of saints and contemporary people of faith.
- Reflect on the cultural challenges that keep us from realizing our true desire – our Longing for the Holy.
