Growing in Faith, Acting in Love: Celebrating 20 Years as St. Thomas More Parish
Submitted by Jan Barrett
Our Fall Festival celebrating our 20th year anniversary as a Church, will take place on Sunday, October 29, 2017.
Saint Thomas More Catholic Church has certainly come a long way since the groundbreaking ceremony with Bishop O’Brien and Father Jim. As we continue to grow in Love and Faith, our membership and square footage have grown as well.
When construction began a modular building was placed onsite. It of course served multiple purposes. Our beautiful church was the last to be built of the three structures at that time. (There was a goal to have Christmas Mass in St Thomas More in 2002. Goal met!) The first Masses were held in the church on December 14/15, 2002.
The Rite of Dedication Mass was February 1, 2003.
The staff Office was second to be built and following that was the Parish Hall. The parish hall was dedicated on October 1, 2008 in honor of Father Jim on his 25th anniversary of ordination.
Coming soon will be more construction to accommodate our growing number of parishioners and staff who need space for meetings and additional offices. This construction will be added onto what is now our existing offices. The new construction will begin sometime this Fall.
This year, on October 29, 2017 following the 11:00 am Celebration Mass, there will be unlimited fun for children of all ages. Things to jump on, climb on and ride on. A beer and wine garden for the adults will be open as well. As we gather to create fellowship we can enjoy a free lunch as barbecue sandwiches, chips and drinks will be served. Those who visit at the beer garden will have to pay for alcoholic beverages. A fun time is to be hand by all.October 26, 2017
