Celebrating 20 years of St. Thomas More with six weeks of celebrations and six weeks of continuous newsletters is a hard act to follow. I think you will all agree that the celebration was fantastic. So, we thought the best way to start the New Year was to come out with our first issue of 2018 on the first day of the year.
We start our celebration of the New Year by featuring stories about last year’s celebration, and how we have shared our time, talent, and treasure. Then we highlight what is in store for St. Thomas More in the coming months.
Last year was of course our 20th anniversary year and the BIG EVENT. Jan Barrett highlights “Our First 20 Years”. We are a giving parish. From pies and desserts to Buckets of Hope; read about how we filled 100 buckets of cleaning supplies for those suffering the effects of recent hurricanes.
Do you hear the joyful noise of Construction? That is because the shovels have started! Ground is moving and so are the plans for new meeting and office space. Read about the ground breaking and when the door will open.
Calling all cars! The first annual St. Thomas More Car Show comes riding in February 24, 2018. Read Frank Goode’s article on the parish’s first event. And one of the cars you will see is Bill Gearhardt’s 1947 Lincoln Continental. You will want to read the article about him and his car in this issue.
There are many that do such fine work at our parish. In this issue we highlight Shelly McBride and her work on “Longing for the Holy”, and about Richard Morgan; he who makes our church look pristine!
There is so much more to read and enjoy, so grab a hot cocoa, find your favorite chair and enjoy this 2018’s first Holy Smoke.
