Celebrating 20 Years of “Growing in Faith, Acting in Love”
As a parish that rose quickly and continues to grow, St. Thomas More has plans to celebrate our 20 Years of growth and love of service, our living stones that formed our foundation of God’s community. While events have taken place all year with the anniversary moniker, the BIG BASH will officially run through seven weeks of liturgical celebrations beginning September 24th and ending November 5th. During this time, a different theme based on how we have been “growing in faith and acting in love” will be highlighted. Smoke Signals will send out a weekly newsletter for each of the seven weeks targeting each of the themes. Article’s from Smoke Signals will also be published in the parish bulletin.
The liturgical celebration weeks are:
- September 24: Catechetical Sunday
- October 1: Liturgical Ministries
- October 8: Outreach Ministries
- October 15: Social Life of the Parish
- October 22: Sacramental Life of the Parish
- October 29: Big Celebration Weekend at all masses and ending with afternoon Parish Picnic
- November 5: Honoring those who have died at the parish
If you are traveling you will want to join us for these coming weeks. But if that is not possible there are more celebrations being suggested. Continuing into our 21st year, both the 20th Anniversary Committee and the Parish Council have been idea storming. Look for their efforts to come out as plans are finalized.
One celebration already in the works is the parish’s first classic car show. Lovers of cars will want to come out Saturday, February 24, 2018, as St. Thomas More opens their parking lot to classic cars, food trucks, and all sorts of fun, during this premiere event on the parish grounds.
I am sure I speak for many of us as together we look forward to the excitement surrounding our 20 Year Anniversary. There is no doubt, that the parish is alive and vibrant; its living stones continue to build a community of faith, that welcomes all.
Keep the Fires Burning,
