Spring Concert Cantata

Amazing! Steve Raml has done it again! He is the Cole Porter of Saint Thomas More. Gifted by his faith and motivated by the Holy Spirit, our Music Director brings to us Broadway quality music concerts.
St. Thomas More (STM) has parishioners with the voices of angels. Fifty of them sang for us on Monday, April 30th. They told us that we are the voice of God. All who were present for this Concert, were blessed with the sounds of faith and joy. The music was inspired by the writing and speeches of those who challenge us to make our world better; Pope Francis, Mother Teresa, Desmond Tutu, Martin Luther King, Teresa of Avila, Ignatius of Loyola and more.
I donʼt believe any of us will ever again hear the words of ‘Wake the World With Dawning Joyʼ without hearing in our mind Kari Beth Paulk as she added the glory of her inspiring soprano voice to the last few words of the song.
When Dr. Rodney Jackson approached the microphone none of us knew what was coming. He spoke to the song ‘Thanks Be To Godʼ, which was inspired by Martin Luther King. Dr. Jackson then began his recitation of Martin Luther Kingʼs speech ‘I Have A Dreamʼ, sounding very much like Dr. King himself. I am sure there were few dry eyes in the audience, especially those of us who lived those times. He then rejoined the choir, who invited the audience into their music by keeping the beat with timed clapping.
We thank each and every choir member, each of the instrumentalists, and of course our incredible music director, Steve Raml.June 13, 2018
