Saying Thanks to Volunteers in Style!
By Jan Barrett
Friday, May 5, 2017, was a busy evening in the Parish Hall at St Thomas More. Three hundred plus volunteers were served dinner by Father Jim and the Parish staff members in appreciation of their service.
From salad to desert it was a perfect meal.
The entrée was braised short ribs, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans almandine.
No detail was spared as evidenced by the beautiful center pieces created by our own Virginia Meeker.
Fr Jim welcomed everyone and led all in saying Grace. He then spoke, thanking everyone for their service and likened the Volunteers of STM to the ‘Living Stones of the Church’. He also expressed his pleasure at the number of attendees. After his remarks, a volunteer walked up to Father, took the microphone and told him that so many showed up just so we could see him in an apron!
And a good time was had by all!
