On December 8, 2015, Pope Francis inaugurates an Extraordinary Holy Year of Mercy. This yearlong Jubilee invites members of the universal Church to re-commit to serving God by caring for our neighbors with compassion. From Prayer of Pope Francis for the Jubilee Year of Mercy
“Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to the captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind.”
GoodNewsPeople is a dynamic parish-wide program consisting of fourteen 2-hour sessions (two seasons of seven sessions), an Immersion Experience, and Post-Immersion follow-up. This community-building process includes prayer, reflection on Sacred Scripture, inspiring stories of “good news people,” focus on a virtue of the week, and woven through it all, opportunities for sharing in dialogue.
Through prayer, reflection, and action you will engage in a process designed to assist you in becoming more familiar with the biblical witness of Jesus and the call to discipleship. You will meet in a small group of your choice at a day and time to accommodate your needs. For more information, contact Shelly McBride, Pastoral Care Coordinator or 623-566-8222.
